Description
KAWAI GX-6 ORCHESTRA GRAND PIANO
In every way, the GX-6 grand piano is designed to deliver aesthetic and artistic beauty at the hands of the skilled artist. Its 7’0″ scale design produces a beautiful, balanced tone that will surely inspire in the studio or on the recital stage.
The exclusive NEOTEX™ key surfaces on both the sharps and naturals will absorb the hand’s natural oils and perspiration to help prevent slipping in performance situations.
TOUCH
The Millennium III action
The Millennium III Action is made from ABS-Carbon, a strong and lightweight composite combining carbon fiber with ABS Styran.
This durable material allows for lighter action parts without losing strength, resulting in a faster, more powerful, and more stable performance than traditional all-wood actions.
Extended Length Keys Made by Spruce
Spruce is the perfect material for piano keys because it is light but strong.
It maintains its shape and responds well, allowing pianists to express subtle nuances in their playing.
The keys are longer for easier playing and a more uniform feel, and they have a taller profile for added strength and power.
NEOTEX key surface
NEOTEX is a key surface material made of cellulose fiber that mimics the smooth texture of natural ivory and ebony.
Its semi-porous, silica-filled surface absorbs hand oils and sweat, providing a consistent feel for all the keys.
NEOTEX is durable, crack-resistant, and static-resistant, preventing dust build-up. This results in a beautiful, long-lasting key surface that offers great playability.
Rigid Foundation of Key Stroke
The hammer rail is the backbone of the piano’s action. The GX series features a strong and stable hammer rail made of durable extruded aluminium with a unique Dual-Beam design.
Both the hammer rail and wippen rail are securely locked in place to maintain the precise action design, providing consistent touch throughout the piano’s life.
The hammer rail’s finely serrated surface holds each hammer flange securely for optimal alignment, while the flanges made of PBT resin prevent action screws from loosening due to changes in size.
These design elements create a solid foundation for the GX Series, ensuring accurate keystrokes over time.
TONE
Tapered Soundboard Made of Solid Spruce
The soundboard is vital for a piano, converting string vibrations into a rich sound.
Kawai uses high-quality, straight-grained, quarter-sawn solid spruce for the GL series soundboards.
Each soundboard is carefully tapered to ensure the right resonance in different areas.
Only those that meet Kawai’s strict quality standards are used in the GL series grand pianos.
CORE System
CORE stands for “Convergence for Optimum Reflected Energy.”
It describes how the piano’s rim, plate, and beams converge at a central point, creating a strong foundation.
This design enhances the piano’s ability to reflect sound, producing better tonal power and sustain.
Hybrid Inner Rim (Konsei Katagi Rim)
The exclusive Konsei Katagi rim combines different hardwoods to create a perfect sound.
It uses fine-grained hardwoods for brightness and projection, layered with denser, coarse-grained woods for warmth and fullness.
This blend results in a rich and balanced tone, which is a defining feature of Kawai pianos.
Vertically Laminated Bridge
The bridge is crucial for transferring string vibrations to the soundboard. GX bass bridges are made of high-quality hard maple or beech. Treble bridges are vertically laminated with 13 layers of maple and mahogany for added strength and better sound transfer.
The GX-6 features a single, continuous bridge that helps to smooth the transitions between bass and treble registers.
STRENGTH
SOLID (Stretcher Over-Lap Integrated Design)
SOLID construction provides a strong foundation for string tension.
First, the pinblock is attached to the plate.
Next, the pinblock and stretcher bar are combined and securely fixed to the rim.
The thick stretcher bar highlights the strength of this framework, which is designed for stable tuning and a powerful sound.
V-Pro Plate
The plate is the acoustically-neutral iron superstructure of the piano over which the strings are tensioned.
All GL Series plates are molded using the Vacuum Mold Process (V-Pro) with “Crossbone Design.” The result is a plate that is strong, stable, and beautiful.
EXTERIOR DESIGN
“The Grand”
The GX Series design combines the classic look of a grand piano with elegant new details.
Its gentle curves and wide music rest maintain traditional characteristics, while the thicker upper beam adds structural strength and enhances the overall design.
Kawai’s special painting and finishing process gives the piano a luxurious ebony polish finish.
The GX Series impresses with its striking design when you open the top board. You’ll see the beautiful golden frame, fine woodwork, and high-quality finish along the inner rim.
The luxurious black felt adds to its elegance, and the Kawai frame mark confirms the craftsmanship. These features capture the essence of ‘THE GRAND’.
